In this pencil portrait study, I concentrated on capturing the delicate features and expressive gaze of a young child.
Using carefully developed graphite values, I explored the subtle transitions of light and shadow across the cheeks, nose, and softly parted lips. The darker, directional pencil strokes of the hair provide contrast to the gentle modeling of the face.
I left the clothing loosely suggested, allowing the child's expression and facial features to remain the focus of the drawing.
