A Breath of Spring

Water-Mixable Oil

Every spring, my parents' garden comes alive with beautiful pink peach blossoms. Our family has grown peach trees for many years, and one of the original trees continues to bloom, filling the garden with color and bringing back wonderful memories.

This painting was my first experience working with water-mixable oils. I wanted to capture not simply the individual blossoms, but the beautiful atmosphere created by their abundance throughout the garden.

Using loose, expressive brushstrokes, I explored the delicate variations of pink within the blossoms and the soft interplay of greens, blues, and warm sunlight filtering through the surrounding foliage. I allowed some flowers and branches to remain loosely suggested, creating a sense of depth and atmosphere rather than defining every detail.

For me, this painting celebrates the fleeting beauty of spring and the pleasure of seeing our family's peach trees continue to blossom year after year.
