My Little Boy

Watercolor Portrait

Possum was one of my own beloved cats, and I created this portrait from a photograph I took of him. I was particularly drawn to his beautiful green eyes, distinctive black-and-white markings, and the direct, inquisitive expression on his face.

Working in watercolor, I enjoyed exploring the delicate lavender, pink, and blue tones within his white fur, contrasting them with the deeper darks of his markings. I allowed the washes to remain loose and expressive while concentrating on the details of his eyes and features. Through this portrait, I wanted to capture the individuality of my little boy and preserve another familiar, treasured moment with him.
